Greater Andover Days Art Contest

This year’s theme is “We The People of Andover,” celebrating the 150th anniversary of the signing fo the Declaration of Independce. Think all things America, stars, stripes, fireworks, freedom, and history for your art show entry. 

RULES:

1.  All artwork must be ready to hang (matted, framed or mounted). Landscape or portrait format.

2. Work will be judged on originality, technical skill, use of color, materials, composition, emotional impact and engagement. AI-generated artwork is not allowed.

3. Please submit art to Andover Public Library between Aug 1st and September 16th. $10 per entry, cash or check made out to ‘City of Andover’.  You can enter up to 5 entries per applicant.

4. All entries will be on display through October 21st and must be picked up by October 31st. Any artwork that is not picked up within a week will be discarded.

5. Greater Andover Days and Andover Public Library are not responsible for late, lost damaged, destroyed or misdirected entries or for miscommunications, misdirected transmissions or other errors of any kind whether human or electronic in the competition entry process.

6. Artwork may be rejected if any of the following:

• Copyright Infringement: Artwork will be rejected if it infringes on the intellectual property rights of others.

• Offensive Content: We cannot accept artwork that could be considered offensive, discriminatory, or that promotes hate speech.

• Safety Concerns: Any piece posing a safety hazard to viewers or staff will be disqualified. If such a situation arises, a gallery manager will contact you to arrange for the early pickup of your artwork.

7. All entries will be photographed and uploaded to Andover Public Library’s digital library.

8. The contest is open to all student, amateur or professional artists.  We welcome submissions from artists of all levels.  Local and area residents are welcome to participate.

Categories and age divisions:

Young Creatives (ages 5-17) – 1st place $150, 2nd place $100 and 3rd place $50

Adult Visionaries (18 and up) – 1st place $150, 2nd place $100 and 3rd place $50

Creative Sparks (ages 5-10) – $25 art gift card

American Mahjong: Intermediate/Advanced Play Event Details :

Every 1st & 3rd Monday of the Month 5:30-7:30pm
For those who enjoy a faster pace of play. Approximately 4 games per hour.
Bring $3.00 in change.

Summer Time by Chiaw-Weai Loo Event Details :

Summer Time by Chiaw-Weai Loo presents a delicate world of ink, watercolor, and Chinese brush painting on Xuan paper. Guided by a balance of control and freedom, Loo uses flowing brushstrokes, open space, and gentle color to create images that feel both playful and contemplative. Her work captures the warmth and simplicity of the season while inviting viewers to slow down, imagine, and find quiet stories within each composition.

This show will be on display on the Project Wall August 6th-September 16th.
