Link Smith: Link’s America Art Show Event Details :
We have a new mini art show on display from a young, local artist named Link Smith. Link’s America Art show will be on display inside the library and on the Project Wall outside the art gallery. Come take a look during library hours until December 30th.
Link’s Artist Statement:
“Art is fun and Link enjoys it. He likes to draw characters and places, and to make up creatures. Art is fun because you get to imagine and create a world. You can choose what you draw, and how you make it is the way it is. He can also write their names, draw the continents and countries, and pick the dates of when they are alive. Each place can have a living creature, and each creature can have its own place.”
Time Range : 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Samantha Gales: Colorful Clashings Art Opening Event Details :
Samantha Gales: Colorful Clashings
Opening Reception: January 2nd 5PM-7PM in the Friends Room
Samantha is an artist based in Wichita, KS. She specializes in sculpture, drawing and painting. She likes to engage in contradictions of what makes a painting vs what makes a sculpture. As a mixed-race woman, she chooses to represent herself and her heritage through the mixed media materials she integrates into her works. Her environment growing up greatly shaped who she is now as well as her values and art practices. Growing up in a large family, Samantha had to get creative when she wanted to make something or create something as the family finances were tight. Having to make use of available materials, and even items that were pre-used, helped push her into the self-proclaimed scavenger she is today. This also gave her a passion for recycling and upcycling. She references her family and personal experiences often. In this collection she wanted to play around with color and patterns as a contrast to the more unusual subject matter.
The art show will be on display on the Project Wall January 3rd thru February 21st.
